Book description |
Seventy-two members of Complex Weavers contributed the pieces which make up this book. Included are design information, photos, drafts, tips, and weaving information. The focus is on how different weavers approach design of their pieces, rather than a recipe book. The work is divided into two parts. In Part I, there are 36 entries woven on 8 shafts and two created directly from 8-shaft drafts (one in tablet weaving and one in ply-splitting). Work in this part is divided by design element, including straight lines, curved lines, stripes of structure, figures, and more.
The 34 entries in Part II are woven on a variety of number of shafts, drawlooms, or Jacquard looms. The work is based on one or more 8-shaft components, and divided by design technique, including 8-shaft drafts as profiles, 8-shaft blocks, 8-shaft layers, interleaving 8-shaft drafts, networking based on an initial of 8, 8-tie weaves, and graphic techniques (sometimes called Photoshop techniques). Each chapter begins with a one or two page lesson. Additionally, weaver bios, a reference list, glossary, and index are provided. The book is dedicated to Wanda J. Shelp, President of CW (2006-2008), long-time CW Journal editor, book author and editor, and leader of two CW study groups. | |
