This didn't have the same magic as the original Inkheart trilogy (and some language, which I also didn't remember from the OG). I couldn't get into it and had never really been interested enough in Orpheus beyond how he was already in the OG; ergo, I didn't feel the need to continue reading.
Cornelia Funke hat mich mit "Die Farbe der Rache" da abgeholt, wo mich "Tintentod" zurückgelassen hatte. Wie auch bei den anderen Büchern der Reihe war ich schnell wieder gefangen von der Geschichte um Mo, Resa, Meggie und all den anderen Tintenwelt-Figuren, allen voran Staubfinger und Nyame (der Schwarze Prinz). Ich war ja vorab etwas skeptisch, da mich die Reckless-Reihe (von der ich nur den ersten Band gelesen hatte) auch durch den, meiner Meinung nach, sehr auf Verfilmung ausgerichteten Schreibstil, nicht überzeugen konnte. Aber hier war die Magie der zu lesenden Geschichte wieder da.

Der Titel deutet es schon an: es geht um Rache. Und damit steht in diesem Band Orpheus im Mittelpunkt, der sich mit einer dunklen Schattenleserin show more einlässt, um sich an Staubfinger und allen seinen Freunden zu rächen. Durch die Art der Rache, die zunächst erfolgreich ist, wird die Anzahl der Protagonisten schnell reduziert und die Geschichte kann sich auf die Beziehung von Staubfinger und Orpheus konzentrieren. Aber Staubfinger steht nicht allein da, der Schwarze Prinz, sein Stiefsohn Jehan und Lilia, eine Pflegetochter von Roxane, bleiben im als Unterstützung. Auch verlagert sich die Handlung von Ombra nach Grunico, mit neuen Figuren, wodurch die Geschichte lebendig bleibt.

Nach meinem Empfinden eine klare Leseempfehlung für alle Fans der Tintenwelt-Reihe - als Einstieg in die Tintenwelt ist das Buch aber eher nicht geeignet.

Author Cornelia Maria Funke was born in Dorsten, Germany on December 10, 1958. After graduating from the University of Hamburg, she worked as a social worker for three years. After completing a course in book illustration at the Hamburg State College of Design, she worked as a children's book illustrator and designed board games. Her desire to show more draw magical worlds and her disappointment over the way some stories were written inspired her to write her own children's books. Her book, The Thief Lord, won the Mildred L. Batchelder Award for the best translated children's book of the year and the Book Sense Book of the Year Award. She has also received the Book Sense Children's Literature Award for Inkheart and Inkspell. Funke has written numerous books including Dragon Rider, When Santa Fell to Earth, Igraine The Brave, Reckless, Saving Mississippi, Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath, Igraine the Brave, and The Princess Knight.
