Small and feisty Laura Lee must go through with an arranged marriage to save her family's Louisiana plantation. Hero Jack, brother of the man she's supposed to marry, comes to bring her to Texas and to her future husband. The book was enjoyable but it seemed to slow down a bit halfway through. It did have some very funny moments. I liked Laura Lee's cute little brother Tad. The book also had some nice moments on riverboats, gambling, and a talkative pet parrot.
Great Author and a Great Book! ... Love it!!!
