Door by Door: How Sarah McBride Became America's First Openly Transgender Senator

I really enjoyed this picture book biography. The depiction of what it is like to be a young trans person not yet openly out is handled artfully and with compassion. The double-page illustration of Sarah's face, split between the male presentation she was maintaining and the female presentation that she yearned to show the world was perfect and heartbreaking. There's a lot of optimism in Sarah's story, and the book shows off that optimism beautifully.
