Through the maternal line, Peter Handke is part Slovenian and as one of the very few Europeans at the time he sided with and defended the Serbian point of view in the Balkan war which ripped up the federal state of Yugoslavia. These three related short works provide some typical lyrical description of the landscape, while politically dubious.
