Oh my! This book had me on the edge of my seat! There’s something quite menacingly frightening about fires and this new series takes that fear and amps it up ten fold. Irene Hannon’s created a thrilling romantic suspense which features a former fire jumper now arson investigator and an ATF special agent. It’s one exciting ride filled with romance, action, and a touch of faith that I couldn’t put down!
Bri Tucker is investigating a series of fires that at first don’t seem to be connected. But, when one of the victim’s family members voices his suspicions and she finds new evidence that links a colleagues’ death with other victims, she teams up with ATF special agent Marc Davis to solve several potential murders. As Bri gets show more closer to the truth, a seemingly unrelated series of “accidents” befall her. Is it the old stalker ex-boyfriend she left in Idaho who’s followed her to her new job? Or, is she dealing with an unhinged murderer who’s targeted her next?
I absolutely loved this suspenseful read! Bri and Marc both have complicated pasts and carry a lot of baggage. As their pasts slowly unfold, they become more understandable, sympathetic characters. Bri is tough, strong, and no pushover. She’s hesitant to get into another relationship, but, Marc seems to melt down her walls and she in turn helps him find peace with his past. The faith element is expertly introduced through these characters and woven into the story in a natural way.
The mystery kept me guessing the whole time with plenty of twists and turns. I like to think I can solve things pretty quickly, but for me, the villain was a complete surprise! We’re given a look inside the twisted mind of the killer from the get go and it’s one creepy place! I loved that I was kept in the dark until the very end with a few breadcrumbs along the way. The pacing was fantastic with a great balance between action, romance, and suspense.
In addition to Bri, we get to know her siblings who along with her are all adopted. I can’t wait to get Jack’s and Cara’s stories. This is one series you need to read if you’re a romantic suspense fan! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily provided. show less

Irene Hannon’s Undaunted Courage series starts with a bang (or maybe a whoosh is more apt since Bri is investigating a fire).
Hannon writes layered characters, and to get to know them all, readers must peel back all of their layers—this includes those of the villain. And Marc and Bri have lots of layers—some good, some bad—that make them fantastically flawed but also people we’ll root for.
Then there is a nice twist in Into the Fire that I didn’t see coming. I do like it when an author surprises me the way Hannon did in this story.
Here’s hoping that the next book in the series features on of Bri’s siblings, because I want to get to know them better, too.

When arson investigator Les Kavanaugh dies in a fire in his home it seems strange, but nothing looks out of place, it may be accidental, but Arson investigator Bri Tucker can’t shake the feeling that something is off. It’s just that this man was a seasoned pro and her predecessor. Bri feels more pressure to get it right when a new ATF Special Agent is assigned to the scene. She needs to convince agent Marc Davis to give her time to figure things out. Also there is a another problem about this death because Les was looking into a string of cases that appeared to be accidental only, they kept bothering him too. Hopefully Bri and Marc can find what connects them all without running out of time. One warning the opening chapter is scary show more and graphic and it sets the mood for the story. I loved the side stories which gave me time to catch my breath, just be prepared. show less

A romantic suspense novel
This first experience reading Ms. Hannon was provided through the first reviewer program and I am glad they gave me the chance to read this wonderful story.
Arson investigator and a former smokejumper Bri Tucker, knows all about fires. When she inherits unfinished business from her predecessor she joins forces with ATF Special Agent Marc Davis to track down a serial arsonist and murderer who will stop at nothing to carry out is plan.
It took a little while to get in the swing of things, we have a lot of key players to get to know but once all of them are placed the story grabs you and doesn’t let go. This clean tale is filled with excitement and nerve-raking scenes right up to the very show more end. I was pinned down enjoying every word. The emotions run high especially when it comes to the arsonist and what he is up to. The investigators suspicion on who this person may be and how they can stop him is so varied I was guessing trying to picture who it might be. Curiosity and anxiety took hold till the surprise was revealed at the end. It was a big puzzle from the get-go and a very well written one. Being a romantic story we gradually have Bri and Marc developing a relationship and a wonderful ending comes out of it.
This plot is well construction and excellently written. The simple and clear narration and vividly said dialogue by well-tuned characters is a reason I can say this story is one I enjoyed immensely. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Such an interesting book to read as it lets the reader peek into the intense and challenging world of fire investigators who look deeply into the bits and pieces left behind consuming fires and then decide if the fire is intentionally set by an arsonist or not. Then once it is determined that perhaps an arsonist is responsible, they find the criminal and see that the laws of the justice system take care of the misdeeds.
As Bri begins her new job, she inherits the left overs of a retiree who was captivated by a series of cold cases in the hot world of arson crimes. Nagging thoughts of connection between a series of fires unproven as arson but that might be arson by the same arsonist snag Bri's attention as well.
A series of events, show more mishaps, and relationships have Bri going deeper and deeper and unknowingly into the world of an arsonist and murderer with deep relationship mental issues.
Excitement. Drama. Budding romance. Great sibling relationships. Top notch team work. All these elements plus great descriptions and conversations beautifully word-smithed by the author, Irene Hannon, make this a must read.

It’s been a while since I’ve read Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense. Her books are always packed with suspense and action, fast-paced, easy to read, and filled with great characters. The author also includes the villain’s perspective, which adds another layer to the plot.
I enjoyed getting to know Bri and Marc. They are a dynamite couple - one a fire investigator and the other an ATF agent. Both have broken pasts that need healing and extending of forgiveness. Though they don’t actually reach this by the end of the book, they are works in progress, which is refreshing and startlingly honest.
It’s definitely an enjoyable book for those who love romantic suspense.

This book is the first installment in another fast-paced series by Hannon. Her stories draw the reader in from the first paragraph, and keep you thinking, guessing, and second guessing your answer for the entire story. Hannon's attention to details only adds depth and layers to both story and character development. A story about fire seemed especially fitting with current events, as many have been experiencing out of control fires and their effects. The real life struggle with forgiveness that Hannon illustrates in the story is something that everyone has or does experience at some point in their lives. Giving grace to others as well as yourself is a hard task for us to achieve, and Hannon's story beautifully explores those themes. I show more look forward to reading the next installment of this series. show less
