We love a good Clifford book. However, the ending left us wanting more and featured Clifford in an "Indian" costume, which is culturally outdated. Good classic from my childhood, but perhaps this one doesn't stand the test of time.
The central theme of the book “Clifford’s Halloween” by Norman Bridwell is friendship and inclusion. Throughout the book Clifford and his owner Emily, celebrate Halloween with their friends and neighbors. Because Clifford is abnormally large it brings many challenges for him, but the story shows him still being accepted and loved despite his differences. Throughout the book Clifford shows character growth and development at the beginning he struggles to find a costume that fits him but by the end with his friends help he becomes understanding and starts to accept himself.
As this book is a picture book it perfectly fits the children's literature as it shows a clear lesson and engaging visuals to really make the book engine and show more interesting to young readers. This book relates to young readers by combining exciting holidays with real struggles that kids go through like not loving the way you look and having a hard time finding clothes that fit well. It also shows positive behaviors such as sharing and caring and accepting yourself even if you're different.
The pictures are bright and bold which is great for grabbing the kids attention and story telling. The picture shows the excitement of Halloween but also the emotional part before, like not feeling good about yourself. Norman Bridwell who wrote the book uses gentle humor and clear language. The story also uses repetition and rhymes to help readers anticipate events and engage with the text. Personally I believe this book is a great way for children to understand that not everyone can be the same but no matter what someone will always be your friend and accept you even if you don’t fully accept yourself yet.

The ending left me wanting...what costume did he choose?!?!? But overall a super cute book.
This book is about Emily Elizabeth and her big red dog named Clifford getting ready for Halloween. I like this book because it show how fun it is to dress up and go trick or treating. I would use this book in my classroom because its a great book to read on Halloween. This book is good for beginners and kindergarten readers.
This children's book brings back memories from when I was in elementary school. It is a fun story of Clifford and his Halloween adventures. The illustrations are colorful and it is part of the Clifford series. This is an easy read book for enjoyment.
Emily loves Halloween. Last year, Clifford was a ghost. A cute, silly story of Clifford's misadventures during Halloween.

Morals: Not a feature of Clifford books, although you could have a discussion about sharing based off some of the events. 0/5
Storyline: Simple, straightforward, and fun. 4/5
Pictures: Yes 5/5
Another great Clifford story. This story is about how Clifford and friends celebrate Halloween--including their costume choices! That is not an easy choice for a big red dog!

In the book Clifford's Halloween, Emily Elizabeth is trying to figure out what Clifford will be for Halloween. One option is an Indian. That page shows him in a large multi-colored feathered headdress, with what Bridwell must have intended to be a peace pipe in his mouth.
