A sweeping overview of OUR world of night, ie, vs, a different world. Granted, there are dramatic temporal changes and attempts are made to describe these in temperate woods, cities, shorelines, tropical rain forests (called "jungles" here), the SW USA desert, the Arctic, etc. The writing is stilted and flowery, a bit dated, and there's only a paragraph or two on each organism described. 2 1/2 stars, another 1/2 thrown in for a fascinating reading topic.
