If I knew for sure it's accurate, I might round up my 3.5 star opinion to 4. But it really does read like a fairy tale. I impulsively picked it up from the library because I love Hyman's artwork. Her work here was more simply illustrative than artistic, but still lovely and a perfect enhancement to the story. I do think reading this gives me a better appreciation of his stories, too. The context in which he wrote them does speak to the values of sacrifice and courage that are common in his tales.
