A family of pups and their mother live in an old mixing tank of a cement truck near the South Brooklyn Concrete Company. A homeless man notices them scavenging for food and one day brings them dog food. He notices one of the pups is sick and takes her to an animal control shelter, where in exchange he works to pay off her care. She improves, he finds an apartment and he adopts her, while her brother pups are adopted by workers at and near the concrete company. Black and white illustrations. Jacket has that old-time feel from the Make Way for Ducklings era. no reviews | add a review
