The sequel to "All That's Left in the World", this book has all of the same anxiety inducing situations. The characters are happy for a probably a total of 20 pages collectively throughout the book, not saying this as a bad thing just a warning. The book starts a couple weeks after the first one ended and Jamie and Andrew are having some issues about their new living situation and deciding what they want to do. Then things start to really go down hill when a storm comes through and turns their lives upside-down kicking off the main plot of the book and lots of tense moments. It is a really cool world, very realistic and the characters are all believable as in they seem like how a real person would react in any given situation. It does show more get a little angsty at times but the main characters are like 18 and 19 I think so it comes with the territory. There are plenty of emotional moments where you are screaming at the characters not to do something or mourning over losses with the characters but in the end I think the book has a positive conclusion. 8/10 show less
Now that Andrew and Jamie have found Amy, the daughter of Henri, an older woman they met on their previous journey to the colonies in the Florida Keys, and her baby, they’re now planning an expedition to reunite Henri’s family. At least until a hurricane hits, destroying most of the Keys supplies, resulting in the settlement turning to the infamous Fort Carolina for help. So now Andrew and Jamie have to go on the run again before the Fort finds them.
I honestly don’t really know about this one. Like there is a really awesome trans guy who’s name is literally Rocky Horror, and I loved him. But there was SO much miscommunication between Jamie and Andrew and it’s literally like most of the plot. Of course there were still some show more pretty sweet moments in here, but I really don’t think that this was a story that needed a sequel, even though the ending was pretty awesome too. That’s why I’m not really too interested in writing a review. show less
