Jessy and family are leaving for Scotland for Laura's wedding to Sebastian Dunshill. The Cee Bar ranch outside of Fort Worth, Texas, is having trouble keeping a manager and hands to work the 5,000 acre ranch. Quint Echohawk is sent there to find out what is wrong and to right the situation. He discovers that all workers are being encouraged not to work for them by ruthless and controlling Max Rutledge since he wants to purchase the land. Quint runs into Dallas and her father, who had their ranch taken from them by Rutledge. It is a battle of wills and power to see who prevails.

Her works include No Questions Asked, the Calder series, the Americana series, and Merry Christmas, Cowboy. In 1993, she received the Romance Writers of America Lifetime Achievement Award.
