"The unchurched are different in how they respond to the gospel." How different? You'll be amazed at the variables that exist when it comes to how open people are to the Christian message. Once you've recognized which stage your unchurched friends and family are, you can much more effectively connect them with Christ. An excellent book based on the author's research into the "unchurched" and their varying perspectives.

Based upon an engaging survey, the author discovers that many more people are interested in the Gospel than one would expect. The difficulty seems to be more in the lack of presentation of the Gospel by friends and associates than intentionally staying away from the church.

The author is quite Evangelical and believes in the sinner's prayer and "faith only." Nevertheless, the research is sound and the conclusions are consistent with evidence on the ground.

Very much worth the read.
Talks about believer's stereotypes of unbelievers and offers conclusions about what those outside the church think and feel.
Think your childhood friend, your uncle, and your fellow soccer mom all have the same degree of receptivity to the gospel? Think again. In The unchurched Next Door, Thom Rainer tosses out our stereotypes of unbelievers and comes to some surprising conclusions about what those outside the church think and feel.
Drawing from hundreds of interviews with unchurched people, Rainer and his team found that not everyone responds the same way to evangelism. Some are eager to hear the gospel; others are more wary yet still open; another group is resistant. Explore their world and discover their real thoughts about Christians, Christ, and church. You'll come away with intriguing and helpful insights and new ways of guiding those you care about to show more the love and light of Jesus. show less
