Her magic draws her to the front lines of an old enmity, embroiling her with Nordeland’s Unfated—children of the gods who serve the king she was raised to fear. Once again, Danielle L. Jensen had me absolutely glued to the story. Freya and Bjorn continue on as they work to change the fate assigned to them and carve out their own destinies. One of the twists in the book, I didn't see coming. As in the first book, the world-building was fully immersive, like a film. The characters were continually evolving.

I'm going to miss spending time with Freya and Bjorn. This is a highly recommended series.
Wow, A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle Jensen was such a wild ride! I couldn’t put it down and ended up finishing it in two days. The world Jensen created totally sucked me in—it’s so rich and vivid, and I loved every second of it.

One of my favorite parts was the banter between the characters and Freya’s witty responses. She was such a fun character to follow, and I loved how she always had a clever comeback. The story kept me hooked the whole way through, and there was never a dull moment!

If you’re into stories packed with magic, danger, and a little bit of humor, definitely check this one out. Highly recommend!
As good as the first, with a propulsive action-oriented plot and plenty of emotional whiplash, this Norse-mythology-inspired romantasy is a cut above the usual. Thoughtful and coherent worldbuilding with a solid level of detail makes the wild adventures and smartly deployed magic feel grounded even as things get crazy. While at moments the rollercoaster pacing can feel too fast, and the added male POV lacks real voice, overall this is a spirited read that satisfies anyone who enjoyed its predecessor.
A Curse Carved in Bone is the perfect ending to the Saga of the Unfated. This series is the first books I have had the pleasure to read by Danielle L. Jensen's and wow what an epic way to start. Her writing is so captivating. The emotions that she pulls from you as you are reading the stories makes it feel as you are on this epic quest with Freya and Bjorn. From the first page you are catapulted back into the battle of Nordeland, Skaland, and the fates of the unfated. Not only this book but this Saga gave me everything I love in a book, enemies to lovers, he falls first, jaw dropping moments, and women that becomes a force no one saw coming. The Saga of the Unfated is simply god tier status.
The wait for this book seemed like forever, and it was so worth it. I think I would say that this one was better than the first book. Freya is dealing with some serious anger and even hiding behind it a little. She's busy still trying to come to terms with all that she's learned about herself, her powers, and her own limitations when it comes to them. The dynamic between her and Bjorn has shifted and is full of anger on her part, sorrow on his, and a whole lot of great banter. I loved how action-packed this one seemed to be, even from the very start. The best part, I think, was all the surprise twists that got thrown in and the way they made the drama of the story so much better. I will always and forever recommend this duet to people.
Danielle L. Jensen's, Saga of the Unfated, continues in "A Curse Carved in Bone."

Danger follows Freya and Bjorn as they try to escape Snorri and his armies.
Freya must travel to lands of the gods to defeat him and everyone is not as they seem.
It continues the adventure of the couple, their spicy romance, themes of heritage, found family, and bound promises.

5 stars!
The shield maiden Freya discovers that not all is what it seems. After Bjorn's betrayal in at the end of the last book, she is more than pissed. She wants answers and she wants them know. She goes with Harald and Bjorn to Nordeland so she can meet Saga and hear from her what the prophecy is and if there is a way to change it. The story definitely floundered the first half of the book and there were so many missing pieces. When the pieces all fit together it was quite a shock. A fitting conclusion to this duology. It's made me want to learn more about Norse mythology. The ending was great and I will be sad to let these characters go.
