The cowinner with Leonie Adams of the Bollingen Prize in poetry (1954), Louise Bogan also won the Academy of American Poets Fellowship (1959) and the Brandeis Prize for poetry (1961). Her Achievement in American Poetry, 1900-1950 (1950) is a spirited book of criticism. For many years Bogan was the poetry critic for the New Yorker magazine. Bogan show more died in 1970.
