I went through a Joy Adamson phase after seeing a film based on "Born Free" while visiting my great-aunt, who had cable TV. Of all her books, I enjoyed her Pippa stories most. ( )

Book description
Joy Adamson promised herself she would never relive the agonizing heartstrain of returning an animal to the wild as she had done with her beloved Elsa. But along came Pippa, and the challenge once more had to be met.

Three strenuous years were dedicated to Pippa's rehabilitation to her natural heritage. This is the warm, human story told as only the author of Born Free, Living Free and Forever Free could tell it, a new and moving chapter in Joy Adamson's continuing testament to the joys of living deeply involved in nature, with nature's magnificent free creatures.
