Bad Creek is a campy horror/ thriller/ mystery surrounding the town of Bad Creek, Michigan while the same old families gather for their annual summer trip. This year's trip is marred by the memory of Iris's sister Glory, who mysteriously drowned last summer in the lake.
I normally don't read much mystery, but this was done really well. I loved how at first you didn't know if there was anything supernatural really going on or not, and the farther into the story we go, the more real the evil of the lake seems to be. There were a lot of red herrings that I think worked well, and it took me a while to figure out the big twist at the end. The theme of religion being the motivating show more factor of our antagonists was interesting as well, showcasing how even those with ‘good and Godly intentions’ can turn themselves into monsters in the name of their god. Overall I think this was an excellent horror story, with just the right amount of gore, and foul language, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good campy ghost horror story.

This was an interesting story with paranormal and creepy undertones. I love that the teens are the only ones that seem truly concerned by the deaths. It reminds me of another group of plucky teens that solve mysteries, except this mystery is darker. As this was Peyton's first published work, I look forward to reading more of their work in the future.

The narrators did a great job of telling this story and keeping the vibe creepy.
