If I wasn’t already familiar with Benjamin Franklin’s life, I can say with confidence I am now. The book begins on one of his most memorable events of Ben Franklin’s life, flying a kite in the middle of a storm. That introduction to the most memorable event gives readers a taste of the rest of the book. We then get to learn more about Ben, the young boy. We learn about his work at the printing press, his articles written under the pen name Mrs. Silence Dogood, and the opening of his own printing press. The book also tells readers about some of his other inventions, Junto, his work against the British taxes/Stamp Act, and his hand in writing the Constitution. Benjamin Franklin has done many remarkable things in his life, and will show more continue to be a prominent figure in American History. I think this book would be an appropriate read for kids reading on a higher level four on up. show less

Benjamin Franklin was a man of many talents as the title implies. In this kid-friendly easy read biography students in an elementary classroom of at second or third grade reading level will enjoy reading.
The information in the book reigns true to information I have found on the internet regarding Benjamin Franklin’s life and his many inventions. The book starts by introducing him as an inventor of the lightening rod and how it came about and then goes into detail of his life starting with his childhood.
Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is show more known for his many inventions such as the lightening rod, bifocals, and swim fins to name only a few. He was also a leader in his community and was the first person to create a library that would be free to the public. Franklin was also highly involved in creating the United States government with other famous men such as Thomas Jefferson.
I like this book because it has short 4-8 pages per chapter and pictures on every page. As page alternatives, the author uses fast facts pages such as Kids in Colonial Times and quote pages like Ben Said It! to give the readers further information about the topic being discussed.
