This is a good level book for children who have started into chapter books. It provides and exciting story, while producing a positive message as well. I think that the best way to use this story is simply within individual reading within the ELA curriculum. Because it is a starter chapter book, it provides a good opportunity for students practice stamina, comprehension strategies (such as: asking questions, making predictions, identifying theme, making connections).
