I love the real life photographs of this book, they are very engaging. The text is a bit heavy and long; I wish there were fun text features like bold or italicized words. I probably wouldn't have this book in my classroom because kids might get bored if I read all the pages out loud to them. Or, maybe I could just read a page a day.
This is a beautifully illustrated book, filled with the most spectacular photos of the human body drives home to the readers the mystery and magnificence of the circulatory system.
This book is appropriate for kindergarten-3rd grade. This book is all about the heart and how it helps circulate blood through our organs and keeps us alive! I really enjoyed this book and thought it was very educational. I would use this book in a science unit in my classroom!
This is an informational book for intermediate grades. This book explores the human heart in terms of parts and functions, as well as the purpose of the heart along with various statistics about heart function. This is coupled with all sorts of diagrams and real-life pictures of the heart and its parts, some under microscopes. The book makes real-life connections for the reader so that he or she may understand the size and function of the heart and it's parts more readily.
This book has no characters, plot, etc.
This book is a good example of informational genre because it is based on facts, includes real pictures, and includes a glossary of terms and an index. The book is published in coordination with the Smithsonian, and this tells us show more that the book is factual and coming to us from a respected source.
This book could be used as a resource in individual research projects in science.
This could be used in an exercise unit or a human body unit in general.
