3378. A Concise History of Brazil, by Boris Fausto (read Dec 11, 2000). This is a 1991 history by a Brazilian poly sci professor, and is a good summary of the history of Brazil--something I had not read much about since my no. 199, Amazon Throne: The Story of the Braganza of Brazil, by Bertita Harding, which I read July 8, 1945, and was amazed to realize I still remembered quite a bit of. If anyone thinks this country is in sorry shape he or she should compare Brazil's shape politically and economically to ours. ( )
