In general I find most Forgotten Realms books to contain haphazard plots with random monsters and bad guys showing up now and then to square off against heroes whose characters don't really intrigue me much. This particular series (The Netheril Trilogy) is not much of an exception to that rule. However, since it's set in the ancient history of that particular world it does have some unusual qualities I found of interest. Fly cities for one thing (I'm always a big fan of flying cities).
