In "Thinking Big" we learn about Jamie, a young girl with dwarfism. Although the book is a little dated, it still contains a good message about being proud of who you are. Many children may not have been exposed to other dwarfs and can learn about the unique condition through Jamie's story.
Through the story of a little girl with dwarfism, the reader not only learns about this particular girl's story but also about the difficulties of living with dwarfism. Things I hadn't thought of before, like watching what they eat because the more weight on their small bodies the harder it is for them to move around, shocked me. The book doesn't only focus on the negative aspects of dwarfism, but also positives which I think is a great way to approach any exceptionality or disability in the first place. Yes, there are some downsides, but it's not always a bad thing.
I cried...Not many books make me cry, but Jaime got me. This little girl has so much heart and is so smart. She was born into a body that will not grow much. You can feel her frustration in the way the author writes, but with her loving family and Jaime's personality, she makes you smile.
This lovely story is about Jaime Osborn. Jaime has dwarfism and this book is her story about her day to day life. this nonfiction book is very informative about this topic. Its a great story to read or let children read if they feel different from other classmates. It has a wonderful message.
This is a good book to help children understand what dwarfism is and what it is like to be a dwarf.
Nonfiction story with photos about Jaime, an 8 year old with dwarfism. Lots of details about her life at home and school, friendships, things that come easily for her and things that are difficult.
Jamie is a dwarf. Dwarfism is when the body is average size but her arms and legs are not. She many face many struggles because of this but he has a outgoing personality and excepts who she is.
