I loved this book when I was a child, and I was pleased with how much I still enjoyed it as an adult. It is very Dick King-Smith (granting wishes, wanting animals).

Harmony is a tom-boyish child who sees the people around her as the animals they most resemble. At the end of a treasurehunt she finds a magical 50p - but what will she wish for, and what will she learn along the way?
