Hunter x Hunter has everything you could ever ask for in whatever story you're being told.
Friendship, power, family, strenght. But hella fun at the same time! ( )

Gon begins his quest to become one of the elite Hunters, but before the grueling licensing exam can be undertaken, he and his new friends have to overcome the challenge of even finding the exam site. The fantasy world and its exotic creatures are brought to life well by Yoshihiro Togashi's art, but the three main characters are blatant archetypes in both appearance and personality. Some of the chapters also suffer from the "mystery" syndrome, where one of the main characters figures something out and acts on it with the reader having no possible way to figure it out until they are told later when the character explains it to his companions. Also, this is only the first book in a large series, so things will surely be developed more in the future. Readers seeking an exciting survival challenge with bits of comedy and willing to put up with the shallow characters could do much worse than Hunter X Hunter. ( )
