This heartwarming story follows a little acorn who goes on a journey of self-discovery. From a tree to a truck, an orange grove, and finally a yard, the acorn grows and learns about its purpose. This story is not only enjoyable for children but also resonates with adults, reminding us that God has a plan for each of us and that we are meant to be exactly who we are. Trust in God and embrace your destiny.
For within every child is the special person God created, just waiting to grow. "'Just be the tree God made you to be,'said Mother Oak." Sometimes I forget that God has a plan for me. I never thought about it when I was little. I'd love to do an activity in the classroom where we speculate about what His plan will be for our lives. We could tie it to our character traits and what we enjoy doing. We could do an imaginative profile of where we'll be in twenty years. I think the students would love that.
It was hard for Little Acorn to believe he would ever be a big, strong oak tree. But, as time passed, he grew, and his relationship with a little girl changed as they both grew. This is a wonderful story about growing up and how we all change.
Title: The Oak Inside the Acorn
Author: Max Lucado
Summary:
This story is about a little acorn that does not believe that he will ever be a big strong oak tree. Eventually, he does grow into a big oak and finds that his strong branches were just right for a special purpose.
Personal Reactions:
Max Lucado is my favorite author of both children’s literature and adult literature. This story is just another amazing story that he has created. It shows that “God has a special purpose for you.”
Extensions:
1) The students will construct a paper over what they wish to be when they get older.
2) The students will partake in a Science activity on how an acorn grows into an oak tree.

A heart-warming story of an acorn that wants to stay with his mom but must become a tree himself. "Within you is a great oak. Just be the tree God made you to be." And a great tree he becomes.
Genre: Fantasy
This is a good example of fantasy because it is about a little acorn who doesn't want to leave his Mama but must. He falls off her branches and lands in a pick up truck and from there meets his friend little orange tree who was being transplanted into an orange grove. All of those things are that unrealistic but the trees and plants talk to each other and can understand humans which makes this book fantasy.
Characterization: Little Acorn who grows into big Oak is the main character in this story. He is extremely important because he goes from feeling like he can't live on his own to becoming the great oak tree that God created him to be. A supporting character would be the little girl because he watches her grow and show more teaches her the very same lesson that he learned growing up that we just need to be who God created us to be.
