The original version of the second Thongor book which was revised as 'Thongor And The Dragon City' in 1970.
Carter's writing here is an improvement over his first Thongor effort although it still reads more like a piece of fan fiction than the work of a professional writer. His penchant for fairly absurd sounding names - Phal Thurid, Barand Thond, Vaspas Ptol etc - becomes a millstone towards the end of the book when all the characters come together. The effect is more like a parody than a serious attempt at fantasy.
