Summary: Little Apple Goat is a farm animal who prefers to eat fruit from the orchard instead of leftovers. Day after day and year after year, she spits the pits and seeds over the hedge on her way home to the meadow. One autumn day, a storm blows through the farm and knocks over all of the trees in the orchard, making the animals very sad. Once winter and spring pass, the animals are surprised to see new fruit trees growing, creating a new orchard. Unknowingly, Little Apple Goat has planted a new orchard from the seeds she has been spitting out.

Genre Critique: This is a great example of a fantasy, because it would not be possible for animals to think, talk, and feel human emotions in the real world. Even though these aspects of the show more story cannot be true, children can still relate to the feelings that the animals have about being sad when something is lost and rejoicing when it returns again. In addition, the context of the story is believable, as farms, orchards, and storms all exist in the real world.

This book focused on a goat who love fruit, especially apples. One day there was a big storm that knocked all the apple trees down that the goat ate from. The goat was sad for a while but by the time autumn came around the farmer had planted new apple trees and all the farm animals were happy again. This book is a good fantasy because it makes connections to human feelings to animals and the seasons we experience in our lives.
Review: This heart warming tale tells of the a little goat who loved fruit and unknowingly plants a whole orchard after a whole autumn of snacking on different fruits. When a storm hits and knocks all the orchard trees over, the animals are very sad. Once winter and spring pass, the animals are surprised to see a new orchard pop up! This story has an element of foreshadowing and prediction that is perfect for young readers who are developing their critical reading skills.

Genre: This book is an excellent example of fantasy. In this tale animals can think, talk, and feel emotions. When the animals find out that their orchard has been destroyed they are saddened. When they realize that a new one has grown they are over joyed and happy. show more These simple emotions, happy and sad, are integral parts of the human experience, that the farm animals enter into in this fictional tale. show less

Super cute picture book for primary grade levels. This is a fantasy because of the personification of the goat. The little apple goat plants trees and ends up saving the farm because of it. Not much depth but still an entertaining nad cute book. Media: Collage, Watercolor, black ink
