I picked up an ARC of this title because I love a good thriller, and I'm a polyamorous queer person, so to see a thriller based on a polygamous relationship piqued my interest. Unfortunately, although it may be a good thriller as the book moves on, I was so disappointed by the portrayal of polygamy in a modern context from the beginning of the book that I DNF'd. It would be more interesting to see a thriller that tackled relevant issues in contemporary consensual non-monogamy than to utilize stereotypes of marginalized people for entertainment's sake. Unfortunately, this is not a book that I will recommend.
Listen there is crazy then there is fubar CRAZY... And this book here is the cream of the crop. I started this book today on audio listen to chapter 13 and picked up the physical... So much for me going to sleep early tonight bc I had to finish this... Was it worth it absolutely f*cking YES!
I didn't know what was what till the end, I mean I kept going back and forth on who the real villain was but the author did an awesome job. If you like psychological thrillers this is the book to read. I couldn't put it down, finished it in one day .
What the heck? Crazy crazy crazy. This book sucks you in from page one and doesn't let you go until it's gone and you're left wondering what the heck went on here. All the clues are there as you read...no hidden facts are pulled out at the end to trick you....and yet i didnt see the end coming...there is one really sick and dillusional wife who is a totally unreliable character and a few other characters who may or may not be unlikable since I had no idea what to believe or not about any of them. I love a book that blinds me with transparency to the point that I can't see the forest for the trees. I will definitely be looking for more tarryn fisher to mess with my brain in the future.
I found the discussion about feminism in the extra content section quite intriguing. I don't know that I would consider this feminist. Definitely not anti-feminist, but I don't know that it's actively telling us to listen to women. Rather the opposite, no?

Regardless,it was so much fun to have a narrator that subverted my expectations and was unreliable but surprisingly so. Normally you know. Here, I didn't particularly like Thursday, but I trusted her until Lo came in having done her research. And that was fun. I like being wrong, and suddenly figuring out a different puzzle.
: I chose this book because I thought it would be fairly light and entertaining and it was all that, although not quite as light as I thought! Your husband has three wives and you are wife number two. You have never met the other women. Because of this arrangement, you see your husband only one day a week – you’re the Thursday wife, the best wife. Then one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket – an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you know it’s one of the other wives.

While you thought you were fine with your arrangement, you can’t help yourself, you track her down, and under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then Hannah show more starts showing up to your coffee dates with bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.

If you are able to suspend a little disbelief, you will enjoy this thriller. It’s definitely a wild ride and totally unpredictable. Just when you think you know what’s going on, you’ll discover that you’re wrong, repeatedly. This was my first book by Tarryn Fisher and I have to say that she has a unique style of writing that allows just enough details to be revealed along the way, until things change and then change again. It takes awhile, but then you start to have doubts about Thursday’s reliability as a narrator. I didn’t see the ending coming and am still thinking about it. So, the book wasn’t as light as I thought it would be but it definitely held my interest and I read it straight through.

Well written. First half was riveting, but second half sagged under the weight of this somewhat convoluted and ultimately ridiculous polygamy plot! Unlikable protagonist becomes somewhat sympathetic, but turns out to be the ultimate unreliable narrator! Fun ride for most of the way.
So, imagine three women married to one man. You are wife #2 and you get him for one night per week. Sound like an awesome deal? If you’re doing a hard eyeroll right now, I totally was there. But author Tarryn Fisher completely makes the setting believable, slowly twisting you into the lives of these three women so you see how they got there, what they tell themselves during the week when he’s gone, and as they begin to discover more about each other (because that’s part of the deal—all three of you know the others exist, but you live completely separate lives and don’t know each other’s names), maybe it’s a ball of yarn that can’t be unraveled. Or maybe not? This reminded me deliciously of “Gone Girl” and kept me show more captivated with all the twists and turns. I never knew who to believe!
