Debt has an interesting premise and a dark, satirical tone that stands out. The story explores ambition, financial pressure, and the strain debt can put on relationships in a way that feels relevant and unsettling. While the concept is strong and there are some memorable moments, I found parts of the book difficult to fully connect with. Overall, it's a unique read with plenty to think about, even if it didn't completely work for me.

Very poor. A lot of it reads like AI output, including the very first 'sentence' which is grammatically incorrect, and a poor start. As an ARC you do sometimes expect to see odd typing errors creep through, although mostly these are the final edit versions. This copy has multiple paragraphs of word choice corrections left in - strike-through and bold formatting still there. Fortunately there's so little reader engagement that these can just be skipped in their entirety.

I thin we're supposed to feel vaguely sorry for a up-coming lawyer and his lawyer wife, as they struggle to cope with the debt from law-school and the vicissitudes of life. But the tone is a weird third person, told through a sibling's eye (whom we never 'meet'). So we show more don't. It's very annoying that they start out being Billy and Kay, and end up as just B and K as if the author never got around to a final Replace Text edit.

If you want to read about the trials of being a rich couple in New York and still not having enough money, maybe this is for you. But ti's a niche audience and I'm not one of them.

Not able to give this book a chance as-is. I think I got the wrong early reviewer edition. My copy has lots of strikethroughs and edits as if this is still a draft. However, the premise does sound very interesting!
