The review listed below is inaccurate. There is no such character as James of the Heather in this book. The main characters are Connor MacEgan and Aileen O'Duinne.
James of the Heather is the ninth son of the Laird and was thrown out at his birth. With the death of his eight older brothers he comes to help his father and maintain the relations with the neighbors. A rather drab historical fiction, that doesn't really linger in my memory for long.
