This was my favourite, so far, from the Conard County series.
Micah Parrish, deputy sherriff at CC, was half Cherokee, tall, proud and tough.
Far too timid, Faith Williams is very pregnant, alone and running scared from her abusive ex husband. Micah takes her in at his home, falls for her, much to his horror, as he is used to being on his own, and working in a county where its people don't much care for Indians.
This was about Micah, mostly, of how he struggles with his inner demons of showing his true self and loving Faith. She returns his love and, more importantly, his trust.
Loved it!
rabck box from bookstogive 11/09; Half Indian Micah grew up with a lot of prejudice. Which is why the sheriff has a hard time believing that Faith loves him for himself.
