Adventures with the Buddha: A Buddhism Reader

A selection of writings from various westerners who came into contact with Buddhism n Tibet and the Himalayas. Some of the earlier pieces do stretch one's credibility a bit, but the more recent accounts of what Buddhism and the guidance of Buddhist masters meant to them are quite moving and more rational.

My favorite collection of Buddhist essays, most written from the perspective of Westerners who have become enraptured with the dharma. I absolutely love John Blofeld's essay "The Lost World of Chinese Buddhism" and Alexandra David-Neel's "Tibet as it Once Was." Definitely recommended.

Essays of discovery of Tibet (Alexandra David-Neel and others) and Buddhism (most notably Jan Willis and Sharon Salzberg). Some more interesting than others, but this is an entertaining and inspiring book, well worth the time.

This is an anthology of excerpts from books about Buddhism. Personally, I'd rather read the originals.
