• This is short poetic telling of the different ways that we are blessed throughout the seasons of the year. It has great visuals, and is an excellent read for young children, particularly ages 4-7. I used it in a class I taught grade 2 students about the ways God blesses them in their lives, and it fit in quite nicely. The message and vocabulary are both simple enough that it is good for students who are just learning to read, or are still enjoying being read to. It is great for teaching students about the different seasons also, as each page is dedicated to a new month of the year, and the descriptions and illustrations depict each month very nicely.

This is an informational book about the months and seasons/weather they bring. Rylant “thanks” and blesses January for the snow; flowers, birds and bees in June and buses in September for back to school. The book fills the months with the seasonal and weather changes.
Genre: This picture book is a poetry book because each page has a different poem about each month of the year. There is rhyming involved in this book, however not every sentence rhymes. The main structure of this book is that the second sentence of every stanza rhymes.

Setting: The setting is vaguely described on each page along with a picture on the opposite page. The setting is very important because it describes the time of year. Through the setting description, readers can gain insight on what would be seen or felt during that time of month.
