I now own a later pressing bought directly from the author's web site and a database he created, but it was the 3rd edition that helped immensely in my quest for music back in the 1980's. This was an essential tool in pre- Internet days for discovering the obscure links from musicians and producers to the discographies of their music. This used to be an indispensable music research tool, and Hounsome has continued on to make this the core of his life's work as an impressive catalog of musical history. ( )

Sadly dated, but highly useful reference. There is nothing like it that I know of on the market today. AllMusic guide doesn't even come close on the albums this covers.
