DK Concise Atlas of the World

This publication, which is in its fourth edition, has a good selection of colourful maps which are easily found via a clear table of contents and a comprehensive index. There is a good balance between continents, and each continent includes physical, political and resources maps. The beginning section includes good resources for mapping in general, including information about the solar system, the physical world, economic and political systems and more.
