Description

Ali Brown, Certified Pet Dog Trainer, helps dog owners understand what a reactive dog is doing when it growls at other dogs, lunges at people, and barks at everything-- behaviors often mislabeled as "aggression." She explains why the dog is behaving that way and how to help it change its behavior.

I have a fearful dog, not a fear-aggressive dog. On the whole, this book talks about the fear-aggressive dogs but the techniques work for both kinds. I just began a class, and this book complements the class so well that I'm wondering if the instructor didn't use it when she was developing the class. For me, reading Scaredy Dog was a great way to collect my thoughts and develop an approach for my dog - but I've been an assistant dog trainer for 9 years now. If I didn't have that background, I'm not sure how easily I would've been able to figure out exactly what she wanted her reader to do. I also wish there would've been an outline of the plan that I could easily refer to.
