The day is certainly going wrong for Roxanne. First, a “rescue” took longer than expected so she was late for her waitress job. Second, a cop from Biloxi came to the restaurant and wanted her to tell him the location of Melissa Cape, one of her “rescue” clients. When Detective Capistrano grabbed her arm and wouldn’t let her go she poured hot coffee in his lap. Her boss fired her! Then when she gets home she finds someone was in her house and ransacked her things and left a message on her computer screen “I’ve got your number. You FAKE!”

She heads for her cousin’s wedding planning to hide away after. But that doesn’t stop the bad from continuing.

A fun and humorous story with lots happening. Clues abound but I didn’t show more see the ending coming. I enjoyed this mystery, murder, and romance written by a good storyteller. show less
Considering how much I love everything else I've read from Stephanie Bond, I was surprised at how much I didn't enjoy this one. The first half felt more chic-lit than comedy, romance or mystery. All the girlie road-trip memory-lane bonding with her cousin got old after a while. It took a Long time to get going, for there to be any mystery developments, and for the hero to get any page time. There were some times near the end when I did feel a draw to the hero, but mostly I didn't care for his character and didn't feel any chemistry between him and the heroine. In fact, while I liked her in her own right, I didn't think she brought anything to the romantic table and couldn't figure out why he would have kept pursuing her. There was also show more a lack of witty lines, which is something I expect from Bond. show less
My rating may be a little too critical considering I have read other books by Stephanie Bond and loved them. This book is like a bad crossover episode of MTV’s Daria meets HBO’s Sex and the City with none of the female characters being very likable. Honestly the author did not due any of the women justice in the likability department in this book. The romance is debatable in this book and the mystery(ies) are all over the map.

Roxann and Joe have no chemistry and she is basically a complete bitch to him throughout the entire book while Angora and Mike were too obvious that I never really got invested in it. Honestly my biggest issue with this book is the use of the effect of years of mental abuse on a character as the source of most show more of the humor in this book.

The narrator was okay. She gave the big burly cop Joe the voice of a nasally teenage boy and even though Roxann and Angora had different speaking voices – the narrator didn’t let the characters keep the voices for their inner monologues. She instead used her narrator’s voice for those which became confusing.

I know this a quick sloppy review, but I got nothing left to really say.

A cute mystery story. I liked Roxann. Her cousin Angora was a little annoying. She seemed a little mentally unstable. Angora's mother was very unlikeable. It was hard to believe someone could be so mean to their daughter. It seemed to take a long time to get to the murder part of the murder mystery.
A murder mystery halfway romance book. Not as well written as her other books. Ok premise of two cousins going back to homecoming week to revisit the past. Caught up in scandals and a "secret" they share that's finally revealed at the end of the book was a huge letdown. Some dead end chapters & not really worth reading. I recommend Bond's "Bodymover" series.
Getting somewhat predictable, but the stories are enjoyable...
Not my favorite of those I have read by the same author, but not quite horrible either.
