The Bunny family finds and makes a bungalow their own in this sweet rhyming picture book from author Cynthia Rylant and illustrator Nancy Hayashi. Not only do they repaint and redecorate their new home, they make it dear to them with all of the family fun and activities—naps, story time, baths, picnics—of a close-knit, loving family...
Although familiar with the work of both of these creators, I hadn't heard of Bunny Bungalow until I picked it up from my public library's Easter display a few weeks back, and thinking that it looked cute, added it to my pile. As it turns out, there is no holiday significance to the story, unless one thinks every bunny tale must be related to the Easter bunny (which this one is not). In any case, show more leaving that aside, this was just a charming little book, pairing a simple, engaging narrative that captures the loving doings of this leporine family, with appealing watercolor and pencil illustrations. This isn't destined to become a personal favorite, but as a winsome little read-aloud for bedtime, particularly for younger children who love animal stories, this would be a winner, I think. show less

The bunny family needs a home, a place for bunny naps, poetry stories, daisy soap baths, and lots of bunny fun. Will they be able to turn the tiny bungalow into a home?
This sweet story will enchant young readers as the bunny family goes about their days and nights, happy simply to be together. Delightful illustrations fill the pages of this charming tale with fun for the little ones. Parents will appreciate the emphasis on family.
Highly recommended.
