Description
Mariah MacKenzie returned to the family ranch determined to find a long-lost gold mine in the land of her ancestors. Cash McQueen was a coldhearted prospector -- a distraction she didn't need, a temptation she didn't want, but the only man tough enough to be her guide on a bold quest for the legendary treasure.Tags

Alexander McQueen, better known as Cash to his friends (and anyone who's ever sat across a card table from him), has one true love - seeking out the hidden treasures in the earth one hard-won prospecting trip at a time. For the last few years he's spend his spare time attempting to track down Mad Jack's lost strike on the MacKenzie ranch. Now Mariah MacKenzie's returned, bringing with her a worn, stained, much abused map to the gold mine. For Cash, whose experience with gold-diggers extends to the female variety as well, Mariah's soft voice, soft skin and curvy figure spell trouble all the way. For Mariah, the gold isn't nearly as important as finding somewhere to belong.
The usual merry-go-round of mistrust, romance and ultimate show more happily-ever-after. But Lowell does it well. show less

This was CLASSIC Lowell with an uber-alpha jerk. I used to really LOVE these male characters she writes but I think I have grown up because I wanted to kick his a** at one several points. Cash believes all women are sluts because his ex-wife was a slut. He has sex with the heroine, Mariah, believing he is sterile but low and behold, guess what, she gets pregnant. Of course, she must be a slut. Nevermind the fact she was a virgin, she must have started f*cking around on him immediately to get herself preggers. I used to like this kind of plot (for some unknown reason) if there is some good groveling involved when he declares his love. BUT Cash doesn't grovel, not nearly enough for me. (Grade: D )
Mariah and Cash in this one. Not my most favorite; but still a fun read if a have an hour or so.
