4th is the series, the characters remain true as Chief Judge Amerotke is asked by the Queen Pharoah to investigate the murder of an inmportant general. Slowly several other military heroes of the same troop are killed and Amerotke rushes to find the murder before all of Egypt's heroes are killed.
I am heavily invested in the story and characters by this 4th book. I love this series. Doherty does a nice job of creating an Egypt that is interesting mysterious and an enthralling backdrop for the characters. I can only say I wish I had the whole entire series so I could devour them at once. Chief Amertoke is a great character, discerning in his decisions, morally up right, even faithful to his wife! He is a very likeable protagonist. In show more contrast, the Queen Pharoah Hatusu is ever changing as chameleon and hard to trust or even like sometimes. Well balanced characterizations make this series enjoyable. show less
