Three stories involving the Saint. Set between the wars this is quite a lot of fun. The Saint in classic mode with the help of Hoppy Unitaz and Patricia Holm

The first story The High Fence is about a fence who is proving very elusive and is good a hiding himself from those below him. He comes to the attention of the Saint partially because the Saint becomes a prime suspect, so he feels he has to prove his innocence (of this at least!)

The Second story was the Elusive Ellshaw. When Mrs Ellshaw comes to the Saint to help find her husband who has gone missing which leads the Saint to nearly being blown up and into an adventure to find out what's going on.

The last story The Case of the Frightened Innkeeper is the story of a damsel in show more distress, strange noises at night and a mystery that he needs to solve.

All of the stories are fun and all of the characters are in top form.

First words
Apart from the fact that neither of them was a productive or useful member of the community, Johnny Anworth and Sunny Jim Fasson had very little in common. ("The High Fence")
The visitors who came to see the Saint uninvited were not only members of the C.I.D. ("The elusive Ellshaw")
"Business" took Simon Templar to Penzance, though nobody ever knew exactly what he had to do there. ("The frightened innkeeper")
Quotations
There is honour among thieves, but it is not designed to resist bad weather.
Last words
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)But Patricia Holm and Hoppy Uniatz were already in London, whereas Mr. Teal had to get there; and Simon Templar had his own unorthodox interpretation of the rewards of Virtue. ("The High Fence")
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)It took two men to unlock the clutch of his fingers on Irelock's wrist; and the bruises of that dying grip were still stamped on the other's flesh a fortnight later, when he stepped down from the dock to wait for the answer to the greatest mystery of all. ("The elusive Ellshaw")
(Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)"I just finished de last voice of a pome I was makin' up on de way back, an' I gotta tell it to Julia before I forget." ("The frightened innkeeper")
