This book was my first exploration of Christian meditation pioneer and Benedictine monk John Main. As a fairly new Christian meditator, I found the introductory biography very informational and not overwhelming. The outline and progression of the book was reader friendly, and I felt eased into an understanding of Main’s perspectives. I’d recommend this book to any meditator, beginner or otherwise, any person interested in deepening their spiritual understanding, or as a historical/biographical reference to the life of John Main. "John Main (1926-1982), an English Benedictine monk, pioneered the practice of Christian meditation. His genius was to recover a way into the contemplative experience for ordinary people within the Christian tradition. Through books and retreats he promoted a deeper spiritual life. Hailed by Bede Griffiths as the 'most important spiritual guide of the church today', his work inspired the foundation of the World Community for Christian Meditation and a network of hundreds of meditation groups around the world" -- www.contemplative-life.org No library descriptions found. |
