This book is a compilation of many short stories and poems that have to do with thanksgiving. This is a great holiday book to have in the classroom around thanksgiving time. What I like most about the book is that it has more to do with thankfulness than it does with the history surrounding thanksgiving. The poems in the book are a lot of fun for any aged elementary student and I would recommend the book for K-6. Older kids can read it on there own but any aged kid would enjoy the book being read to them. This book is also a great way to introduce student to different types of literature, such as poetry.
Bauer has collected more than stories and poems. There are also songs, crafts, and recipes. She has included a selection of books for further reading for all ages. Both the table of contents and the index provide useful finding aids for this excellent resource.
