Before the Wright brothers built an airplane, they had to start somewhere! The brothers' interest first sparked when their father brought home a mini whirligig. With some encouragement from their mother, the boys sought to replicate the whirligig at a human-sized scale. Though their first flying machine did not take off, it sparked their interest to keep at it!
The book is great for any student interested in the wright brothers or of the history of flying. I also think that this book has good pacing for an early reader. This would also be a fun book to read aloud to the class and ask their predictions.
An introductory book to the Orville Wright brothers before their first flight. The book was slightly boring in my opinion. It did have a great theme, the Wright Brothers failed at their first attempt to fly but they were not discourage instead they were excited to start all over again. Great lesson to teach kids. They shouldn't give up or let their failures take over what they could accomplish. I found the illustrations not to be very kid-friendly lacking in color.
