Pyramid Books, 1969. "As contemporary as sit-ins." This book, about the civil rights movement, the black power movement, miscegenation, hippies, drugs, campus activists, 'happenings', 'love-ins', etc; features a young girl who gets overwhelmed by it all and disappears. And a sinister plot by her college professor to push her over the edge. It was suspenseful and surprising and hilarious, full of the signs of the times. Anti-Vietnam war, anti-establishment, but with a regular private eye just trying to do his job in the midst of it all. Liked it.
