What a perfect book to share with your child when you are expecting a new baby in the family. Told in such a cute way to show that says its not so bad having a new member of the family in your house and that big sister will actaully enjoy it.

This book could be relatable to anyone who has a s sibling. The big sister is jealous of her little brother at first, but then she begins to help her mom out with the baby and she realizes that she can do all kinds of things that the baby can't, so it is important that she teach her baby brother as he grows.
Summary: This book is about a family that is having a new baby. The older sister wants to know if she was the same way the baby in now when she was younger. The family does a wonderful job of telling the big sister that she use to do all the same things that the baby does but that she is a big girl now and doesn't need as much help as the baby. They family also does a very good job of making the older sister feel involved with the new baby.
Personal Reaction: Personally I love this book. It was given to me as a gift when my middle child was born. It was a great way to let my oldest daughter feel like she was not being left out. Now I am able to once again use the book for my middle child when we had our new baby
Classroom Extensions: I show more would like to have my students make a family collage and also I think it would be a great idea to have each child tell one special thing about each family member. These two classroom extensions will help my kids in class focus on the good things in their families. If the students do not have brothers or sisters they could tell me if they want or do not want any brothers or sisters and why. show less

In "I'm a Big Sister," Ellie's family is expecting a new baby! Ellie struggles to understand all that comes with having a new baby in the house, and beings to get envious of all the attention given to the new baby. It isn't until Ellie's mother enlists her help to take care of the baby that Ellie begins to view her little sister in a whole new light!

This book is about a girl named Ellie who knows that she has a new brother on the way she can't help but wish she was little again just like her brother. Ellie realizes that she can help out by helping her parents care for the new baby. Ellie and the new baby bond very well and Ellie is proud that she is helping with her new brother. I would read this book to a child who is a new sister and wants to know how to bond with their new brother or sister. Ages 4 to age 8
It has been a while since I have read this book, but it personally helped me when I became a big sister for the first time. It taught me that I should be happy to have a younger sibling and to help out with taking care of them. I believe this book is appropriate for children ages 4-8.
This is a great book to read to little girls up to maybe7-years-old, about a new infant entering the family. Good illustrations, and text suitable for reading to toddlers and slightly older girls.
