A very improbable storyline (given the roles of the characters) and some mild dialog. But, still fun to read again. The family dynamic also made it a little more interesting. I need to see if I can find the second book somewhere to continue reading.
Against the backdrop of adventure and war, Mr. Allen gives us a picture of Han and Leia as parents, and we get to see a bit of the personality of there three children. There hasn't been much about Han's past on Corellia yet, but that promises to be part of this trilogy.
Han Solo is ready for a vacation. Although to bring his family to visit his home planet that he himself hasn’t been to in decades isn’t quite that relaxing on his mind. Everything had been fine for Solo up until a New Republic agent warned Han that Corellia is now a very dangerous place to be. Han, with a daring smuggler’s mind, decided to think little of the warning, which he quickly learnt to regret. Join Roger Macbride Allen in book one of his Corellian Trilogy, Ambush at Corellia. In it includes a very odd chain of events that occur on the planet, and a surprising end to be continued with book two, Assault on Selonia. The only negative thing about the book is that there had been a typo on almost every other page.
I realized I've had this trilogy on my shelves for years, but had never gotten around to reading it. Meh. It takes place ~20 years after fall of the Empire, so after the Thrawn trilogy and I'm pretty sure the Jedi Academy, but I'm not sure where it fits with other things. Not the best star wars book I've read, but not the worst either, and there's some stuff here that might be setting up cool stuff in the later books - I don't know yet, though.
Star Wars Ambush At Corellia is the first in the Corellian trilogy. Roger Macbride Allen does a great job bringing the classic Star Wars characters to life. Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Luke and Lando star in this fun filled adventure, and the Solo twins also bring fun and flavor to the tale. The story does take quite some time to get interesting, but it proves to be worth the wait. There are some excellent new characters introduced such as New Republic agent Belindi Kalenda and various other human, Selonian and Drallian characters.
Over all, it's a kinda slow moving story that gets up to speed towards the end and is sure to grow in the second and third volumes of the trilogy.

Jun11:
Characters: Yea, it's the same cast. They even through in some fan service for the prior books. And yea, they do a pretty good job portraying the old cast.
Plot: It's just mostly confusion. Sort of like a mystery without an engaging mystery.
Style: Close enough to swashbuckling to feel like the movies. When you're carrying the same cast, it's mostly about not screwing up.

Some of the first books I'd read as a kid. I wonder if they would be so great if I read them now???
