This is the way to read Charles Dickens; find the shining moments and put them in a short, readable form. I have a great deal of respect for Dickens, but I think his work probably reads better in serialization than in novel form, because you can eagerly await the next installment, which you can read in a reasonable length of time. In a novel, it seems necessary to sit down and chug through it, and you begin to look longingly at all the other books on your shelves you could be reading about halfway through a 6-700 page novel. Dickens was a clever writer, and knew how to create unforgettable characters, and a format like this leaves you wanting more.
