Eighth-graders Ryan and Taylor are twins, but that's where the similarities end. But they share at least one thing in common: nothing is turning out as they planned.

Not quite as good, imo, as [b:Dog Days|37237|Dog Days|David Lubar|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1168871119s/37237.jpg|37126] and [b:Hidden Talents|37240|Hidden Talents (Talents, #1)|David Lubar|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1391899837s/37240.jpg|1475463]. A bit long... for the full first half I was whining about cardboard characters and dragging plot. But then I realized that readers can really get a sense of the 'heroes' that Ryan 'experiences.' And the payoff is pretty darn cool. Still, it is probably a bit too long for many reluctant readers, and a bit too superficial for many avid readers.... I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. Otoh, I, personally, am glad I spent my Sunday morning with it. So, 3.5 stars rounded up. Fans of Lubar shouldn't skip it. ( )

Near the end of this book, Taylor says the phrase "This is madness" at least twice. 300 reference, hmmmm? especially since Ryan at that time was Spartacus. ( )

Have you ever wished that you could be someone who you aren't? Twins Ryan and Taylor hate who they are. Taylor thinks she is a nerd and Ryan always gets bad grades, but he does have a wide imagination. Finally the twins get their chance. After a huge blast during the night, Ryan decides to explore it. He pulls his sister into it as well. They soon discover that the blast had left many mysterious "alien" disks. When you allow these disks to "flip" you become any legendary hero from the past. What the twins had not realized was that being a hero might not have been as much fun as they thought it would be. If you would like to find out what happens to Ryan and Taylor I would highly recommend reading the book. If I had to rate this book from one, being the worst book I have ever read, to five, being the best book in the world. I would rate it a four point five because it is a little slow for me. Have fun reading!!! ( )
